COMMENTS ON MAJO KACHELTJE

In my original story, I invited those who had comments to "comment below".
Unfortunately, the convenient mechanism of making comments had to be
discontinued as you can see when you click on the link "COMMENTS"

Nevertheless, two undaunted Dutchmen were so kind to communicate with me as follows:

Gerard Scholtes went to the trouble to find my Email address and said he had found the explanation of the name "Majo":

Ewoud Sanders wrote in his column in the NRC Handselsblad, (a Dutch newspaper) about the etymology of the name "Majo kacheltje".
A man named Johann Bubberman managed an Ironware and Tool Shop "Kramer and Roder" in Rotterdam, Holland.
The word Majo" derives from the names of the inventor,
Jo(hann) and his wife Ma(rie).

courteous as the Dutch are, he put his wife's name first!

John Vanderzyde of Prescott, Ontario, Canada wrote on April 28, 2005 that he had made some changes on my drawing.
He used one during the War and made one for a Canadian veteran who also lives in Prescott.

copy of his correction
Note the following corrections:
  • The inner can is 1 cm lower than the outer
  • There are four brackets separating inner and outer can
  • The bottom of the inner can is solid
  • Four 1/2 inch pipes allow air to circulate
(from outside the outer can to inside the inner
and also over the rim of the inner can into
the open stove below which is connected to the chimney)
  • I thank these two gentlemen again for their kind cooperation!
