Copied from my journal upon return from a 72+ lap swim in Pucillo on Oct 10, 2008,
a year after the DOW reached its highest ever (over 14,000) :

DJI dropped 84 points in 7 minutes
or 12 points per minute
so it will be at rockbottom zero in say 700 minutes or about 12 hours
which leaves us ok till sometime tomorrow morning??
Why worry? It's all on paper only, or is it? ....

By the way, did I tell you the
one about the super-rich Bedouin
oil sheikh who donated a dhow
to our research institute?

I wrote him a letter to thank him
for his generous endhowment !!

One wonders if rats also escape and swim away from sinking dhows?

Enuf already, you have all the phun in the world
while the rest of us are about to drown
or otherwise been wiped out! ....

A relevant note after all these references about swimming, bailing out, leaving the sinking ship, etc.:
This morning of the day after, French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde said in an interview on PNR -
as early as about 08:15 a.m after having met with President Bush in the Rose Garden even earlier this morning
October 11, 2008, that as a champion swimmer she had learned at least one important thing relevant to
her present job (I thought she was going to say: "To hold my head above water"):"to hold my breath!"

Christine Lagarde stands next to Henry Paulson who in turn stands next to Condoleezza Rice and under the stars of the US flag
