Postcard to Joop Boelsma from his parents

Oude Mirdum, July 17, 1940

Oudemirdum, 17.7.'40
Dear Joop,
Could you please send me the "Statement of Service" which I would get from F.
It is easy to put up with life here, except that the weather is not very nice.
Warm regards from: Heit (Frisian for "father")

Wednesday afternoon:
Dear Jo,
We arrived good and safely and had just come in when a terrible thunderstorm burst loose. Till now the weather has been uncertain. We enjoy ourselves here but when Truus and Ben get here on Saturday we will nevertheless go to a hotel because it is too small here for six people at least as far as sleeping arrangements are concerned.
How's Tine doing, and can she cook better than I? I am sure she does, doesn't she? Is the weather good in A and are you guys sleeping quietly! We will hear something so once in a while, won't we? Here it is very tranquil at night and also during the day.
Now, especially from Father best regards also for Tine and Wim,
Your loving Mother
