We landed at Walvis Bay, a South African enclave within South West Africa. It was rather barren, and our agent took us for dinner and drinks in the hotel. We unloaded, swore at the Landrover we were given to use, and took in a Nancy Kwan movie that evening. |
Jan. 26, Sunday:
After a good breakfast and some reading and napping, we painted the buoys and winch and talked with Tatum, who has visited some 38 countries.
That evening we spooled the wire onto the winch drum and I wrote a letter to Denise.
The Bascoms went on to explore the Namib until the scheduled arrival of "Rockeater" from Long Beach . . .
