page 28 - January,1964, Ben Oostdam's Autobiography

January 24: Friday:
We are having a busy morning fabricating current crosses.

These consist of a bamboo
pole stuck through 3 styrofoam
pads equipped with a ring from
which can be suspended a certain
length of rope with at the end a
weighted current cross
(two plywood panels slotted
together at 90 degrees)

After lunch, we went to the airport
to help Bascom - just back from CDM -
to unload.
Nothing is said about the seismic
sledge hammer.
Erik has put jacks on the Frontend
Loader and cutting edges on the
caisson.
Alec Cousin invited me to go up in
the air in his Pipercup and scared me
blue doing a series of Immelmans.

When we went to pick up the winch, it was not ready yet.
Later, I went to the airport again, to pick up two Anglo geologists, Bout and Biesheuvel, as well as beautiful Mrs. Dutoit.
After that, I packed my gear for the coming cruise.
