Later that afternoon we took off to attend Dave Smith's
big party.
I met Messrs. Thiessen and Dunmuir of First National Bank; the latter knew Jaap Koster, my "mentor" at the Dutch Bank in Bangkok a decade ago,who had since transferred to the British Bank of the Middle East. !
Also Prof. Eric Simpson (again: had just met him that morning...; he served as President of SCOR from 1980-3, and now has a Fracture Zone named after him, near the Marion Hotspot, S.W.Indian Ridge!) and

It was a fine party and after a long drive we ended up at Mr. Dunmuir's house for drinks, dinner, cards and music till his chauffeur took us home around midnight.
