At the end of July, "JAPANYON" came to an end and we were supposed to sail home aboard the R.V. "Baird", but the complication arose that several Japanese students had been asked to sail along to the USA so that we were two bunks short. The upshot was that Ron and I "volunteered" to fly back by MATS, via Hawaii. That gave us an additional week in Japan, which we spent traveling separately, he with his Japanese girlfriend, I alone.
I went to Kamakura, Kobe - where I visited my friend Andries Jansma in the Nationale Handelsbank, Nikko to enjoy the 3 monkeys and Alpine scenery and Onjuku, to dive with the amas.
