1957 - 1960
Montreal

Within the time of my 1959 summerjob, I took a two week "vacation" to explore the Canadian Atlantic Provinces, from August 1 to 14. I started out with my fellow field assistant, Nick Wong, a foreign student at University of New Brunswick, on his Lambretta scooter.
NEW BRUNSWICK
We left at 18:00 on Sunday, August 2 together on the heavily packed Lambretta scooter, stopped in Chatham for dinner, drove through Moncton and along the Miramichi River till we reached Blackville, where we pitched my tent for the night.

The next morning (Aug.3) we rode through a lovely country of rivers, covered bridges, ladders on roofs and field-shelters for cattle to Frederickton, where we collected Nick's passport and had lunch with the geologists at the University of New Brunswick (met the chairman, Dr. MacKenzie). That afternoon we rode back to Moncton and raced against time to get the 21:30 ferry from Cape Tormentine (or thereabouts) to Prince Edward Island PEI.(now replaced by the 9-mile long Confederation Bridge)
