We left Morgan Bay at 09:30 and first drove past the "children friendly" lagoon to the Kei River to see the ferry. To save time, we decided not to take it but to go back to the main Route N2 and cross the bridge to "Transkei". After we left the rest-stop near the bridge, Mercia thought she had left her prescription sun-glasses, so we turned back to try and retrieve them. In a way that was fortunate, because we now had pictures of the Kei bridges from both sides : see above!
Incidentally, we did not find the glasses at the rest stop, but later that day on the floor of the car ...
For Mercia and me, this was a historic occasion, crossing into Transkei, which we had not been allowed to do in 1978, at which time it was one of the "independent" Home Lands and passports were required to enter it.
