2004 TOUR OF IRELAND - Ben Oostdam page 19

It was close to 3 p.m.
when I left Galway and
headed for Clifden.
I passed through the
pleasant tourist village
of Oughterard
on the shore of a large Lough Corrib, where one can take boat tours.

Next came Maam Cross, entrance to enchanting Connemara
Here I headed north along the Maumturk Mountains (left)in Joyce's Country to reach Leenane (close to Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord ) at 16:20 missing most of C'mara so as not to add a 13th Ben.

I had a tooth- and headache, so at 5 p.m. I was happy to stop at a B&B named "Moher House" in Liscarney (left). After some searching I found Shiabhon, 4th yr veterinary student at Dublin, engrossed in a book in the sun in the backyard. Her mother was off to a funeral, so it was she who fixed me a nice soup and cocktail and Irish coffee later that evening.
