June 27: While having lunch, we sailed on from Shibaozhai to Wanxian, where we arrived at 14:00. This is a large town known as "the Gate to East Sichuan Province" with spectacular buildings, wide stairs and many docks, giant articulated cranes, and factories.

It is famous for its oranges and pomeloes ("Liangshan Shaddock") and is the alleged birthplace of the poet Li Bai. While waiting for clearance from the Harbormaster's office above us (source of continuous megaphone/loudspeaker messages), we climbed up the stairs at 15:00 and boarded an A.C. bus which took us around the town and allowed us ample time to walk around and take photographs
