1983 CHINA TOUR

Page 16 - June 20:
This was a rainy day after a violent rainstorm that night.
Our first visit was past numerous sycamores ("Why do Chinese not plant more trees?" was my riddle ...guess!) to the West Garden Temple, which features some 500 clay Buddha images:
CAUTION and other riddle:
The photographs below are dated June 19, but my diary assigns this visit to June 20. The top two photographs somehow do not look appropriate here, and I could not find any similarities in Suzhou pictures on the WWW. However, these four gents look like guards, and seem to fit better with the Temple of the Jade Buddha in Shanghai - which we visited late on June 20. Consequently, this may be a case of mixed up film, which must happen quite often in China travel (like the "If it's Tuesday, this must be Belgium" syndrome). My apologies and if any viewer can help me, please Email me.

I did a lot of sound tape recordings and may try to find and edit them one of these four mornings, like the French say.
