SUMMER 1963 TOUR, p.45

Ben Oostdam's Autobiography:

Sunday, August 11, 1963: It was cold in the morning when we had a breakfast with much butter and coffee and prepared to leave Innsbruck.

We passed through Landeck on our way to Feldkirch (Danube?) through and past lovely valleys, creeks, pine-forests, and charming colorful houses.
Arrived there at 12:30 and stopped to look around a bit (but not enough, so the 2003 - WWW Google Search Engine has to come to our aid again . . .for the 8 illustrations below of :

FELDKIRCH

Landeck (from the WWW, no such snow
when we were there...)

(left): etching by the Countess of Flanders,
ca 1870

(right): sketch of landscape near Feldkirch by Wolf Huber,
early 1500's

Heard that there were saltmines around here. We turned off to Vaduz, Liechtenstein, receiving spectacular stamps in our passports when we crossed into this small country (NOTE: "FL" on a car is not Finland, but "Furstendom Liechtenstein" !)
