Monday, July 1: On our first full day in Holland, my Dad, Principal of the Wilhelmina School in Amstelveen, took a vacation day to treat us to a car-tour to the other side of the IJ, i.e. north of Amsterdam ("l'eau dela de l'Y") starting at Durgerdam and Ransdorp, well-known for its tower - a landmark for our many father-and-son bike tours in the 1940's :
