Ben Oostdam's Autobiography:

SUMMER 1963 TOUR, p.12

Saturday, July 27:

We got up early and stiff and with throat-aches, Rose's the worst.
We ate a little,
then descended
to Antibes,
where we drank
hot chocolade ,
bought medicine
and enjoyed the
ambiance.
We searched through Nice for the Corniche (the middle one of three major roads along the coast) to Monaco. Spectacular views of the Principality , palace on a cape, and harbor.
On passing the Palace, we surmised how much H.R.H Grace nee Kelly might like to talk to another American girl married to a foreigner (i.e. Rose).

We stopped at the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium, which Rose skipped to take a nap in the back of the car parked in the shade. I went in and even bought some expensive first day issue diving stamps.

COMMENTS ? - Tour LOG
Although the aquarium was not as spectacular as expected from the fame of its then Director, Jacques Cousteau,
(also see 1970 TIME article)
I enjoyed the museum and the early 1900's collection of
HRH Prince Albert
"the Whaler". (left)
