I admired the coracles, round woven
baskets made watertight with lacquer.
They serve as water taxis and
every year there is a race
in which no oars or paddles are used.

In 1975, over 32,000 Vietnamese
and Cambodian refugees
were housed in
Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.
One of the last to be resettled was the
former Director of the NOI, whom I tried
to sponsor as Resident Director for our
Wallops Island Marine Science Center .
He did, however, accept an
even more ;o] prestigious position
as researcher at the Philadelphia
Academy of Natural Sciences.
